A FEW DAYS WITH KEITH AND FRANK AND KIDS

We flew from Florida Chicago to stay with Keith and family and visit Frank and family.

It was a good visit, but I was in a great deal of pain with my back.  That rather spoiled some of our plans.

The kids are all growing into teens.  They were there, but also off doing their own things, especially since the weekend is the only time they can be on social media.

Even the old standby question of what they learned in school did not get a response from the girls. "Nothing" they said with a grin.

Gio gave us the most detailed talk when he told us of his school trip to see the Lincoln musems in Springfield and we sent him a copy of Team of Rivals.

Keith and Frank gave Elizabeth a grand 75 year birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant.  Very tasty.  I had steak au povre, but they did not have brandy in the sauce.  It was still good.  I also took alcohol to calm the back.  Johnny Walker Black which I have not had in many years. I only take about four drinks a year, so it was quite a treat.

Frank took us to the airport to fly out, but first we stopped at a great little spot for breakfast.  I had Irish Skillet, potatoes, corned beef, and pancakes.  It was a great spot and we lingered outside talking until it was time to go to the airport.

Frank also brought Big Drop NA beer to Keith's and gave me a copy of the book James, a new book telling the story of Mark Twain's Jim from his own perspective.  I finished it while I was there in Chicago.  It is a great read.

Our plane was cancelled due to bad weather and so we rescheduled.  The plane was completely full, but our middle seat companions were fine.  Eliz had a skinny guy and I had a super tall fellow who was not super fat.

I took a wheelchair because of my back and also because the change in planes had cancelled our early bird check in.

I talked to a black woman in another chair.  She was very attractive, and about my age.  She had lived in poughkeepsie ny for quite and now lived in Pahrump NV.  She was visiting in a place near Poughkeeosie.

That passed the time.  Our flight was delayed a half hour while they fixed something.

I have to say that I hate flying now.  It never goes smoothly.  Even with the new TSA precheck I find the security a pain.  Although perhaps I need to thing about getting all my things in my small suitcase and so avoiding emptying of pockets.  That was a mess.  I dropped my glasses and luckily the wheel chair driver saw them.

We did mask, but no one else did.

My back bothered me getting up or down,  As I write today it is still an issue.  Luckily my recliner seems to comfort it a bit.

I am happy to be home, but there is so much now to do. Elizabeth is in a frazzle.
